西村明子

Akiko Nishimura 

 

４才よりピアノを習う。

13才でロンドン市主催「ロンドン・ミュージック・フェスティバル」ジュニア部門金賞受賞。
14才でイギリス、サットン市ショパン協会主催でリサイタルを行う。

立教大学社会学科卒業後、ヤマハ株式会社に入社。
アレンジャーとして「月刊エレクトーン」を始めとして、

ヤマハから出版される曲集を54冊手がける。

89年に渡米。

ＬＡの「グローブ・スクール・オブ・ミュージック」にて、

アレンジ＆コンポージング・プログラムを修了。

ジャズピアノをジョイス・コリンズ氏に師事。

帰国後、ＮＨＫ、日中合作ドラマ「大草原に還る日」の日本語版音楽担当。

財団法人ヤマハ音楽院講師、東京演奏研究会指導スタッフを歴任。

現在、都内や横浜でジャズのライブ活動を行なうほか、

地元熱海でジャズクラブＡを経営

 

Akiko Nishimura began playing the piano at the age of four.

 

At the age of 13, she won the Gold Prize in the Junior Division of the London Music Festival hosted by the City of London.
A year later, she held a recital organised by the Chopin Society in Sutton, UK.

After graduating from the Department of Sociology at Rikkyo University, she joined Yamaha Corporation.

As an arranger, she worked on 54 music books published by Yamaha, including contributions to the monthly magazine Electone.

 

In 1989, she moved to the United States, where she completed the Arranging & Composing Program at the Grove School of Music in Los Angeles.
She learned jazz piano under Mr. Joyce Collins.

 

After returning to Japan, she was responsible for the music in the Japanese version of the NHK–China co-produced drama The Day We Return to the Great Prairie.

 

She served as a lecturer at the Yamaha Music Foundation and as an instructor at the Tokyo Performance Study Group.

 

Currently, she performs live jazz in Tokyo and Yokohama, and runs Jazz Club A in her hometown of Atami.
